The season starts here...and it certainly did; with action on both Saturday and Sunday for everyone at CRUFC.
Saturday under sunshine and blue skies saw the Presidents Match in the guise of a Vets/ELB's selection taking to the stage. Plenty of creaking bones and moaning and groaning, and that was just getting changed. A big crowd turned out to watch the 'lads' compete against a Burnley/Rossendale select XV. An entertaining game broke out, in between more heavy breathing than a late night Channel 4 continental film. After the tweaked hammy's bumps and bruises the Nick Hopwood Memorial Trophy was presented to the winning skipper

Following the 1st XV faced Bury RFC in the Lancashire Bowl 1st Round. They came out on top winning by 7 tries to 3 in a 47-21 victory. [report to follow on 1st XV page]

Breathlessly onto Sunday; A busy Junior Sign up day in the morning led nicely on to the Vixens game.
Liverpool Collegiate Bluebird RFC provided the opposition for Clitheroe Valley Vixens Women's team. And in their first outing at full contact 15 a side rugby they certainly didn't look out of place. Backed by a decent crowd the team grew into the game and will have learnt loads in just one game and sets them up well for their league campaign ahead
