Community Impact

More than a rugby club

Independent research values our impact on the Ribble Valley at £1.4 million every year. Here's how it breaks down.

Sponsoring Clitheroe RUFC is not only an investment in sport, visibility, and local relationships — it's also an investment in measurable social impact. Independent national research using Social Return on Investment (SROI) methodology has shown that community rugby in England creates more than £2 billion of social value every season. For Clitheroe RUFC, that national picture becomes local impact.

Sport saves lives

Mental health & belonging

Sport saves lives. At Clitheroe RUFC we believe that sincerely, and we have built a club that actively tries to live up to it. We run open mental health forums within the men's group — a structured, safe space where players can talk honestly about how they are doing, not just how training went. This is rare in community rugby.

Like many clubs, we have experienced the devastating impact of losing members to mental health struggles. That experience has deepened our resolve. We are a club where people look out for each other, on the pitch and off it, and that culture of belonging and mutual support is one of the most valuable things we offer to everyone who walks through our doors.
