Captains Confirmed for the 20/21 Season

The foundations for success continue to be built on the playing side.

James Dickinson has been announced as the 1st XV captain for a 2nd consecutive season and again joins 2nd XV Captain Kirk Kenyon & Club Captain Richard Few as those leading the players from their respective positions.

James has been given the mandate by his 1st team playing colleagues to lead them into what we hope and are working hard to make sure will be an exciting season for Clitheroe RUFC. The league structure expansion has meant a more level playing field than has been seen in recent years and with a great buzz being generated by Bicky and his colleagues in the leadership team, a thoroughly organised coaching team driving a brilliant pre season programme and a a superb mix of young and experienced players committing to the season ahead, us mere supporters can't wait for the rugby to commence.

Initially a winger and centre, Bicky settled in at Number 8 last season and admits to learning much through what was a difficult season. He means to put all those learnings to good effect going forward and we congratulate him on continuing as CRUFC 1st team captain.

Kirk has accepted the challenge to lead the 2nds in a revised League 4N and whilst there will no doubt be a challenge to generate the levels of consistency needed to have a successful 2nd XV, he has the nous and skills to make that happen and to balance success on the field with the enjoyment those playing at this level expect as they enjoy their weekly run outs with the lads.

Finally, Richard as Club Captain, intends to spend his time supporting the leadership teams and players in general bringing his extensive experience to bear as well as helping drive the club forward on many other fronts.

We wish these fabulous volunteers all the best for the season ahead and urge everyone playing to support them to succeed where at all possible. There is a real sense of optimism building at the club and urge everyone to come down and get involved.
