Clitheroe Elect New Captain for 2012/13 Season

'Smee' takes the helm

Monday, 18 June 2012By Roger Holmes

Clitheroe RUFC have elected a new Club Captain for the forthcoming season; Nathan Peel was unanimously elected by the players to take the Captain's armband.
He takes over from William Oliver St. Ledger McEntyre who has served the Club with distinction for the past three seasons and now steps aside for a slightly younger man.
Nathan has been at the Club for many years and said he feels it is now time for him to step up to the plate to take on the senior role.
In the Clubs 35th year Nathan become only the 19th Captain of the the Club, and aged just 31 still has plenty to give on and off the pitch.
An adaptable player, he can fill just about any position in the three-quarter line, but is probably most effective at outside centre.
One feels his best years lie directly in front of him, whereby his maturity, experience and understanding of the game combined with his chirpy and gregarious nature, can be put to best use.
Nathan commented that he was honoured at being chosen to lead the Club into the fresh season, and although aware he is following in some large footsteps, is keen to make his own mark on Clitheroe Rugby.
It is certainly going to be a busy year for Nathan; with just 18 months of marriage to Jenny under his belt and his new house in Waddington with renovations still ongoing, and now the big responsibility of Clitheroe RUFC Club Captain to make his life complete!
Nathan lists the founding of 'Waddington Boys Club' one of his proudest moments outside rugby; and his hobbies include worm charming, collecting hinges and trolley bus spotting, amongst many others.
