Clitheroe Rugby Club senior playing group is in rude health with exceptional training numbers and senior teams doing well in their respective leagues; the 1st XV is doing well in ADM Counties 3 & the 2nd XV are lying second in 3N of the intermediate league setup. There's no doubt that our head coach since the start of last season, Mark Walton, has had a profound impact on getting us to this point.
When considering this, it's with regret that we announce that Mark has left his role by mutual agreement. The club will be forever grateful for his effort and commitment and the key role he played in the club’s promotion and league winning season 2022/23. His drive to generate the success we've seen was evident and as a consequence we believe we're in a great place on and off the field. We wish Mark every success in his future endeavours and look forward to him coming back to visit from over the border as often as he can.
An excellent interim coaching team has been assembled under Director of Rugby Dave Watson to deliver the senior men's coaching programme over the coming months as a minimum, combining the knowledgeable coaching resources we have within the club currently with visiting coach input as and when required. The longer term plan regarding coaching structure is under review.
