After a long summer, not long enough for some, the action starts for real this weekend.
The opening game of the 14-15 Season is at Littlemoor and we are delighted that our oldest friends and rivals , Carnforth RUFC are the visitors.
Both Clubs are relatively young in the grand scheme of things, both being formed around the same time around 37 years ago.
We have maintained regular contact ever since. Even when Clitheroe had a brief sojourn in the then Miller Homes League set up some years back, we still managed to fix up a few friendly fixtures together.
Carnforth travel on the back of a tough reverse at the hands of Ashton under Lyne in the Bowl Competion, so will be up to speed and definitely match hardened.
Clitheroe eschewed the Bowl this time for a couple of local warm up fixtures.
The blot on Clitheroe's horizon are the injuries to flank forward Luke Hayton & wing Joe Smith - both of whom will not feature this weekend but will soon be back in harness.
Last season honours were shared between the two Clubs; Carnforth winning 26-13 at home in a horrendous thunderstorm downpour. In the return game Clitheroe prevailed 33-17 at Littlemoor.
Kick off is at 3pm; and our referee is non other than Mr Sandy Woods. [pictured behind Captain Nathan Peel]
All are very welcome to Littlemoor this Saturday.
