Lions go Shark Hunting
'Delayed' transmission again Wednesday. Just how does that SKY+ thing work??
Tuesday, 9 June 2009By Roger Holmes
The Sharks v Lions game will be on at 7.30 in the clubhouse, after some light touch rugby training starting at 6ish.
The Sharks, formally known as Natal, are current Currie Cup holders; SA top domestic competition. Although will be without their Springbok players, they will offer a tough examination of the tourists 100% record.
Once again, however, history is with us - as the Sharks have never beaten the Lions in Durban.
Back in 1997 it was 12-42 to the Lions; Catt, Townsend & Dallaglio touching down.
In 1980 it was closer, 15-21. England [Grand Slam of that year] wingers Mike Sleman & John Carleton, along with Cardiff No9 Terry Holmes, scoring.
1974 saw an easier win; full back Andy Irvine, open side legend Fergus Slattery [pictured] and No 8 Mervyn Davies all on the scoresheet.
Could be a close one to call, but I expect another 'away' win!
