The 2016-17 season, our 40th season, kicks off this Saturday at Littlemoor.
The 2nd XV get the honour of the opening game at Littlemoor, hosting Sedgley Park 4's. The 2's now operate in the snappily titled Rogerson Homeserve+ Division 4N of the NW intermediate League set up, having been promoted at the end of last term.
Sedgley from Manchester will be an unknown quantity to Clitheroe as our paths have not crossed for many years. The only thing that is certain is that they play in almost identical colours...[come on you maroons?].
Under the astute leadership of wise owl Dave Watson, they have retained the baulk of last years side and gained a couple of new faces,
Although life at a higher level holds no fears for the team, it will be interesting to see how they adapt.
Kick off is at 3pm and our referee from the Manchester Society is Mr Gary Stanley.
Needless to say the bar will be open and serving the excellent Bowland Brewery beers and refreshments.
Meanwhile the 1st XV travel to Holden Road ,Burnley to play their 2's.
Richard Few retains the captaincy for a second year and will be desperate to get the lads off to a winning start to their campaign in the Sale Sharks Division 3N of the NW Leagues.
After a great preseason build up, it is time to put words, training ground tactics into where it matters - out on the paddock.
Kick off again is at 3pm and postcode for supporters is BB10 2LE
