So that's a wrap on the pitch for the 2022/23 season; with another successful Presidents Day.
The rain gods were listening after a wet morning the sun peeped out and the pitch , lovingly tended by Phil Isherwood , looked fantastic.
Playing Chairman David Watson had picked [on paper] two evenly matched teams. Unfortunately after a close first half one team ran out of puff and thereafter result was never in doubt. Trouble is no one was sure which was the Presidents XV and which the Chairman's XV!
Didn't really matter rugby and CRUFC were the winners.
To the awards; In the 40th year of The Nick Hopwood Memorial Trophy - it was presented to the winning captain Nick Roberts.
The Bob Howarth Man of the Match went to Joe Aspin and the Man of the Match for the other side went to Connor Fletcher. Well done to all.
Also it was an emotional Geoff Williamson who collected the 'Colin Silcock Spirit of Rugby Trophy'. Finally hang up his jockstrap after turning out as a young blade in the first ever game CRUFC played in 1977. Some achievement that. Well done GW.
Just the Club Dinner to come to dish out the rest of the silverware!
