The 1st XV came away with the points from the long road trip to Upper Eden winning 5-27.
With some 'estabished' players deciding a stag do was preferable to playing for the club, it was pleasing to see some younger lads step up into the breech. Mark Piercy and Matt Bleasedale catching the eye plus the return of Tom Redfern from injury was welcome.
A pleasing conundrum for the selectors come Tuesday.
Meanwhile at Littlemoor, Windy's Cavaliers came out a battling second best in the return match against league leaders Hawcoat Park, going down 22-0. Again some younger lads showed up well including new man Paddy Gaughan in the back row, Craig Holland at lock and a pleasing return for Richard Murray at tight head prop.
A good game played in excellent spirit on a [too] firm ground.
