Russ Goes 'North'

Scottish Russell is leaving the Club

Friday, 10 October 2008By Roger Holmes

Russ Shiels, the versitile full-back/wing is leaving Clitheroe, bound for Aberdeen. [in Scotland]

Russ recently hit the headlines when, he broke a habit of a lifetime, he florished a £20 note, with attendent moths etc, and bought all those in the vincity a round of drinks.
As to weather this sudden and unexpected bout of hitherto unseen generousity has any connection with his departure is not clear. Nor is the Fraud Squad investigation of forged bank notes being used at a pub in the Salmesbury area connected, as Russ asked me to point out.

Russels new job is in a Christmas season pantomine at the Aberdeen Empire, where he is starring in an update & remake of Dads Army. Typecast as ever, as Private 'we're all doomed' Fraser!
Tickets are selling fast, but if you speak to the man himself, he tells me he can have it 'sorted' for a block booking for a bundle of crisp fivers in his sticky fist..

Russ leaves after 3 [or is it 4?] years at Littlemoor and his top attitude for training and playing is an example and will be missed.

Good luck Russ!

Russ' last game is on the 18th Oct, after which he will be leaving his wallet behind the bar so all his chums can have a small lemonade on him. Cheers.
