Saturday 16th Feb @ Littlemoor
Bob's 2's welcome Bolton, 1st XV travel to Birchfield
Friday, 15 February 2013By Roger Holmes
This Saturday [16th] the 2nd XV take centre stage at Littlemoor to face a good Bolton side.
With this being a fixture postponed from before Christmas, there is little other than the two sides respective positions in the table and thier recent run of form to guage the relative strengths of the two combatants.
Bolton, who are in a handy 5th postion, have been on a top form of late and have accrued more than 80+ points in thier last two outings, so are a free scoring team who will test the defences of the Maroons.
Captain Bob will be relying on the steadying influence of centre/prop Mattie Bartle and new father Mark Preston in the backs. But the return of some young guns Luke Hayton, Rob Woolley and James Sharples are a bonus.
Also good to see Richard Murray available for an all too infrequent appearance. Brian Sutcliffe-Wood is also available to entertain the crowd with his own particular brand of football.
Kick off is 2.15pm and our referee is Mr Graeme Effemey from the Manchester Soc.
Mr Andy Scott is also scheduled to run his eye over proceedings ..or is it just for a pint or two of Hen Harrier?
Meanwhile the 1st XV travel down to Widnes to face Birchfield.
This will be the third meeting between the two sides. Birchfield currently hold the whip hand having won 3-0 in the Cup on the very first day of the season and then 5-24 at Littlemoor in October.
The home side are notoriously hard to beat on thier own ground and are well placed in third in the table.
Clitheroe travel with some confidence after a good win last time out and in spite of half term absentees are still able to muster a decent squad.
Ko again at 2.15.
Postcode for Birchfield is WA8 9ES for any going direct.
