Saturday Round Up

A great day for the Club; contrasting fortunes on the pitch

Sunday, 25 September 2022By Roger Holmes

It was a memorable and emotional day at the newly renamed Silcock Park, yesterday.

A packed Clubhouse of players , sponsors, former players and friends were able to be on hand for the dedication of our ground in memory of our immediate Past President Colin Silcock.
A welcome introduction from the Chairman, Bob Wilkinson, was followed by President Andrew Thornber.
He paid homage to Colin in a warm and amusing speech outlining his massive contribution to CRUFC.
Mrs. Julia Silcock was on hand to unveil the new name plate and son John responded with a personal thanks from the family.
A lovely and touching event, that we hope did the man justice.

On the pitch it was a battle royale against our neighbours Burnley RFC. The final score 38-31 to Clitheroe. The lead changing hands on several occasions in a see saw game that was full of incident.
Thanks to the sizable Burnley contingent who travelled over and look forward to the return in December.

Meanwhile, the 2nds travelled to newly formed Garstang 3rd XV and came away agonisingly short, going down 35-31 in a high scoring entertain game.

Reports etc to follow....
