At a wet and muddy Burnley the 2nds completed their league programme with a nail-biting win at Burnley 19-22 the final score.
The win confirms 3rd place in the league which is a tremendous achievement and hats off to all that pulled on the maroon & god jersey this season.
Plus in a league bedevilled by cry offs and postponements this term, Captain Kirk Kenyon has made sure the team has played on regardless. Every credit.
Kirky is stepping down and will pass the captain's armband on at the end of the season, that is after the cup games.
After 5 seasons at the helm, his little black book, full of numbers of folks who may have once mentioned they might fancy a game; or others who thought they'd quietly given up and have been startled to get the call to arms on Friday evenings, can be put away for one last time.
A tremendous shift and thank you.
Not before this weekend coming though!
A big cup weekend is in store for both teams. 1st April
The 1sts are away at Halifax RFC in the Papa Johns National Cup
The 2nds are at home against Dukinfield 2s in the NOWIRUL Bowl (North/Central)
Both games 3pm ko
Details to follow.....
