As you all know it's the 1st Test of the 2009 Lions Tour this Sat. Kick off is at 2pm, the club will be open from 1pm at least.
The team has been announced, and is largley as forcast, Tom Croft makes the back row with Wallace and Heaslip. No place on the bench for Sheridan or Shaw though.
We all remember 1997, when Matt Dawson threw that cheeky dummy pass to sneak in at the corner to score for a 16-25 win. Alan Tait also crossed and Neil Jenkins slotted the rest of the points.
On Bill Beaumont's 1980 tour, it was a 26-22 loss for the Lions, in fact they were out scored 5 tries to 1. That being a solitary touchdown from Pontypool prop Graeme Price and 5 penalties from Irish fy half Tony Ward.
On the famous 1974 tour under Willie-John McBrides' leadership the 1st Test was just won 3-12. 3 penalties from Phil Bennett plus drop goal from Gareth Edwards to just the one penalty in reply.
Lets hope history repeats its self. Be there for a 2pm ko.......
