This Saturday at Littlemoor

2nd XV Table toppers host OSJ. 1sts in semi final action.

Thursday, 31 March 2016By Roger Holmes

First time visitors to Littlemoor are Orrell St James who are the newish RU offshoot of the well established RL club.

OSJ have gone well in their inaugural season and have enabled some of their players to play year round rugby.
They appeared to have been formed after an exodus of players from Wigan RUFC's 3rd & 4th teams.
OSJ lie 3rd in the table just 4 points behind Clitheroe, but they crucially have a game in hand. Clitheroe lead the table after last Saturdays win over Bolton plus the fact that Fylde lost at Preston GH on Easter.. Its all pretty tight from the promotion spots at what is now the business end of the season.
Steve Dowson returns to skipper the team. Exciting new talent in the shape of Josh Kay , the Spencely-Jones brothers Will & Rob are on show along side old faithfuls Pundy Procter and Si Gretton to orm a useful looking squad.

KO is at 3pm and support is welcome

Meanwhile the 1st XV travel to Didsbury in the semi-final of the Raging Bull Bowl to play old friends Old Bedians.
OB's and Clitheroe have followed identical paths this term.
Both clubs, dissatisfied with the RFU set up, moved sideways into the Raging Bull leagues. In 3N & 3S respectively.
Bedians have done tremendously well and are clear table leaders of 3S.
Having had regualar fixtures over the years we can expect an open but tough game. Clitheroe travel as slight underdogs and will have to be on top form to prevail.
But a semi final is a big 'one off' occasion - so anything could happen.
Dave Watson continues with the captains armband. James Pate and Joe Weld-Blundell return with Luke Hayton and Adam Penney warming the bench.
3pm KO travelling support most welcome .[postcode M20 5QX]
