This Weekend at the Club

2's at Home, 1sts on the road. U16's in League Derby

Friday, 4 November 2016By Roger Holmes

This weekend there is plenty for the Clitheroe rugby fan to get their teeth into.

On Saturday the 2nds welcome Bolton 3rds to Littlemoor in what is likely to be a close game. The 2's have been improving steadily and are due another win, especially in front of the Littlemoor faithfull.
The last time these two teams met was back in January 2015 at Bolton and the lads were just pipped 12-5.
I'm sure they will want to put that record straight tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if any of the Bolton 3rds have benefited from having former England Captain Lewis Moody coaching at their club.A great coup for them.
Note kick off is now 2:15 pm

The 1st meanwhile travel to old rivals Chorley a team we haven't played since February 2013 back in the North Lancs 2 days. A 0-10 reverse in a mudbath at home wasn't what was required in spite of luminaries such as Chris Waddington playing for the maroons!
Chorley slipped out of the RFU leagues shortly afterwards and have been rebuilding, literally, since. Whilst their new state of the art facility is being constructed on their old ground they are playing at Chorley Panthers RL ground.
Union playing at a Rugby League club.....unthinkable some years ago....you could be severely sanctioned for such an act of treason by the old duffers at RFU HQ .
Fortunately sanity has prevailed and Clitheroe look forward to visiting a new ground.

On Sunday the U16s face the might of local rivals Burnley U16s in the league. After impressing over the last few weeks in their 'friendlies' they'll certainly have to knuckle down for the real thing.

Kick off is 11am, and refreshments will be available in the clubhouse.
Support welcome for the lads !!
