Bury RFC was the setting for the first warm up game of the new campaign.
On a sweltering humid day the home side were the perfect hosts, so much so that they had provided 30 players whereas Clitheroe, racked with holidays and work commitments had mustered a seemingly paltry 19.
In spite of this there were many positives for the coaching staff to take from the game.
Amongst those catching the eye of the coach was; Ed Thornber, his cousin Sam Thornber in the forwards. Debutant James Waterworth on the wing had a solid initial outing. The new look half back pairing of Nathan Peel at 9 and Stu Railton at 10 lloked like an exciting option. Whilst Mark Curphy and Kino Lafracheschina complimented each other well in the centres.
It could be true to say at last there is competition for places throughout the side.
