Clitheroe Rugby Club are thrilled to announce the elevation of long-serving President Colin Silcock to a brand new role within the club. Following more than 36 years of service to the club as its President, he has now been awarded the position of Honorary Life President.
For the committee and members, past and present at the Littlemoor based club, it is especially pleasing to know that although he will be taking a step back from the hurly burly Presidential duties, he will still be patrolling the touch-line on match days offering his ‘opinion’ and general all round support on playing performance.
Colin has been one of the most predominant figures at CRUFC since taking up the role of President back in 1984 and the club has grown brilliantly under his tenure. His flint-sharp business acumen steered the Club through potentially troubled times of the mid 80s and together with past Chairman Andrew Thornber, he was instrumental in the development of the site and the superb clubhouse we have occupied since 2003.
It’s important for an an amateur sporting organisation like ours to have key people who support its members and in this regard, Colin has been a true confidante to many players and committee members over the decades. So many individuals can attest to having benefitted from his kind, insightful and constructive words.
As a strong family man, Colin has continually exemplified the Rugby Union values of friendship and respect, values we treasure and from the club as a whole, we hope to reciprocate this to both Colin and his family with the creation of this new and well deserved office.
